Our History

Congregation Beth El has been on the cutting edge of American Jewish life for nearly 50 years.

Some of our innovations – like the Simchat Torah custom of unrolling the Torah scroll — have been adopted by Jews around the US and around the world. Our Free Medical Program – providing services to the un-and under-insured — is an award-winning model that demonstrates Jewish values and ethics in action.

Innovation and creativity arise from the joint efforts of visionary clergy and committed congregants. Our history shows how every Beth El member has the ability to change the face of our community, and our belief that every human being can change the world.  We invite you to explore the links below to learn more.
