After services on June 10, join us for a kiddush lunch followed by Ashira’s presentation of her capstone project, culminating her five-year rabbinic training at Hebrew College. Her project is entitled “Relationship Wisdom: A Zentangle-inspired Visual Journey through Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs).” It explores insights we can glean from this sacred text about relationships between people, between people and the Divine, and between people and sacred text. Ashira has created visual representations of the conversation between selected verses of Shir HaShirim and their corresponding midrashim in Shir HaShirim Rabbah using the meditative art form of Zentangle. After the talk, you will have the opportunity to browse the meditative art, samples of which are shown below. The art and their explanatory text will be moved to the Beth El loft, where they will remain an exhibit throughout the summer.
