Tisha B’Av Service

Tisha b’Av/9th of Av commemorates painful losses in the history of the Jewish people, including the destruction of the First and Second Temples. Beth El’s gathering will be an opportunity for quiet contemplation and shared community to mourn the strife in Israel, in the United States, and wherever it is found; and also the pain that COVID-19 has brought to so many.

Our evening’s service will be an experience of contemplation:

• We will gather in silence.
• We will offer the prayers of our hearts.
• We will receive and hear the words of Lamentations in candlelit quiet.
• We will share our sadness, our friendship and Torah in the fasting silence of Tisha b’Av.

May our ceremony guide us to give and receive consolation.
