The Jewish Fantasy and Sci-Fi Book Club led by Beth El’s Rabbi Josh Breindel explores engaging and inspiring modern Jewish texts through the lens of speculative fiction (F&SF). As we discuss the works that we read each month, we also create a warm, accepting and supportive community.
Jewish authors, actors and directors have left profound imprint on F&SF. Whether through explicit mention of Jewish texts or by nuanced references to Jewish traditions and values, their heritage has helped shaped this imaginative genre. From Vulcans to golems, from robots to wizards, Jewish narrative has created and enriched modern F&SF. Together, we’ll voyage through the strange new worlds of Jewish speculative fiction that both amuse and inspire us.
The group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 8:00pm on Zoom using this link. Join us!
