Tree of Life Poetry Workshop with Rabbi Katy Allen
Sunday, February 21, 1-3:30 PM
As we struggle with chronic toxic stress from the constant onslaught of news and experiences that are deeply troubling and traumatizing, take time to engage in rooted reflection and connection through a multi-sensory meditation. Explore our universal journey from trauma toward healing. During this workshop led by Rabbi Katy Allen, we will use her book A Tree of Life: A Story in Word, Image and Text which takes the reader from innocence to despair to understanding through a combination of poetic moments, quotes from Jewish tradition, and black-and-white photographs of trees. The book serves as a tool for coping, learning, and growing during the challenging times we face in life by following a journey that is both personal and universal and will provide participants with a basis for an exploration of personal and communal trauma in a manner that is both healing and enriching. Participants will receive a copy of the book to take home.
Join in person at Beth El. If desired, bring a preferred writing utensil and notebook. Snack welcome.
