Susan Gaeta Sings the Music of Flory Jagoda

When

Saturday, August 3, 2024
7:30pm – 9:00pm

Event Type

Join us for an intimate “house concert” of Sephardic music as Susan Gaeta shares the legacy of Flory Jagoda in a celebration of the human spirit. The concert will take place at Congregation Beth El and on Zoom.

Jagoda, the renowned “keeper of Bosnian Sephardic music and culture,” was one of the few survivors to bring to the West the music of her culture, which was decimated in the Holocaust. As Flory’s protégé, Susan is committed to keeping the songs, culture, and memory of Flory’s family and community alive. This year, she is sharing this legacy in the intimate setting of house concerts where she performs and discusses the traditions and their meaning for our 21st century lives. Following the concert dessert will be served. Donations may be made directly to the performer. Cash, checks, and Venmo are accepted. CDs will be for sale.
