10:30am – 12:30pm

Event Type

Teacher-in-residence Rabbi Yosef Goldman joins Beth El’s clergy to co-lead a creative, memorable and moving Shabbat morning service. Rabbi Goldman will lead us in song and liturgy and share words of Torah as we move together through Shabbat Parah, part of our spiritual preparation for Pesach.

After kiddush lunch, Rabbi Yosef will lead an hourlong tefillah leadership workshop for Beth El members only – please register here (no registration required for attending the service).

The service is part of a weekend of events with Rabbi Goldman, including Shabbat Rinah on Friday evening and a concert with Kedmah on Saturday evening.

Rabbi Goldman is a leading facilitator, educator, and practitioner of Jewish communal music. He partners with congregations and their clergy, accompanying them on their path to cultivate vibrant prayer life and foster musical-spiritual creativity. His work is informed by his diverse rabbinic experience, in chaplaincy and spiritual counseling, education, and senior congregational leadership. Since its founding, Yosef has served as senior advisor to Hadar’s Rising Song Institute, which cultivates Jewish spiritual life through song.

His latest project is Kedmah, an ensemble of Mizrahi piyyut and sacred music using ancient poetry and song to excavate the power and beauty of the spiritual and artistic expression of Jews from Arab lands. Yosef received rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2013, with a concentration in pastoral care and counseling, and was awarded a master of sacred music degree.
