Meeting the Ushpizin: A Shamanic Sukkot Ceremony

In this ceremony, Rabbi Aaron Philmus and Shamanic Practitioner Miriam Katz will call in our Ancestors Miriam, Aharon and Moshe, the three prophet siblings who merited miracles that we connect to during Sukkot.

We’ll host three creative elemental rituals based on ancient sources that connect to these ancestors and the miracles, nourishment and protection that they provide.

Meet your guides:
Miriam Katz is a Shamanic Healer who taps into the power of creation using ritual, divination and communion with spirit to help people release emotional, physical, energetic and spiritual blocks to joy and fulfillment.
​Miriam is an initiated Altomesayok, carrying the lineage of Andean Q’ero shamans. She completed four years of apprenticeship in shamanism with Tracey Forest. She regularly pursues ongoing shamanic studies with close-knit shamanic circles and with leading shamanic teachers.
Rabbi Aaron has served as both a spiritual leader and educator for many years. He currently serves as the Rabbi of Temple Israel in Manchester, NH. In addition to teaching at several Jewish High Schools, he served for eight years as the spiritual leader of Temple Torat Yisrael, a Jewish congregation in Rhode Island. Rabbi Aaron is co-chair of the Rabbinical Council of Hazon: the Jewish Lab for Sustainability. He received ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Prior to that, he studied Natural and Cultural Ecology at UMASS Amherst and studied Aboriginal cultures in Australia.
