Join Cantor Vera for a series of eight in-person community song circles throughout 5786. We’ll gather on Shabbat afternoons (and one Sunday afternoon in December). Together we’ll learn, and sing, songs that strengthen us… enthrall us…. challenge us… heal us… deepen and expand our sense of Jewish musical culture and human connection. Each session will have a theme, chosen through the year according to participant interests and passions. No prior singing experience required: these song circles are for you, and all are welcome!
Rabbi Ariel will be leading Circle ‘Round for Singing on Shabbat, March 7th (18th of Adar) — A Simcha That Holds Us, in collaboration with Cantor Vera. We’ll explore chant practices around the Kabbalistic energy of the month of Adar, which is a joy that is not dependent on outside circumstances; that holds all of the myriad textures of life and rises up from within our open — and sometimes broken — hearts. We’ll explore practices around being with the unknown and letting the chanting of a sacred phrase carry us into an expanded state. From there, everything is possible.
