Drinks and treats provided. \;\n7:00pm - Schmooze time\nTo kick off the new year\, we are delighted to be joined by the wonderful Mi riam Anzovin\, who will take us through some of the coolest (and darkest) mysteries of the Talmud.\n\nMiriam Anzovin is a huge Jewish nerd\, storyte ller\, and artist\, putting ancient discourse in direct communication with modern internet culture\, pop culture\, and current events. Some of her p opular short-form video series include #DafReactions\, #JewishLoreReaction s\, #JewishHolidayReactions\, #JewishBookReactions\, #AVeryJewishMakeupTut orial\, the “Elder Millennials of Zion” skits\, and more content on Je wish themes and ideas.\n\nIn The Daf Reactions Project\, she shares her pr actice of daily study of the Babylonian Talmud in the Daf Yomi cycle from the viewpoint of a formerly Orthodox\, now secular\, Millennial feminist. In Jewish Lore Reactions\, she explores her favorite epic characters and s tories from the incredible\, extended chain of imagination that is the col lective narrative world-building of the Jewish people.\n\nHer videos are h er authentic reactions\, with commentary both heartfelt and comedic\, cent ering Jewish joy. Her role in her work is not as a teacher\, nor as a rabb i\, but rather as a fellow learner\, a fellow traveler\, on the path of Je wish discovery. Through her content she invites others to walk beside her on this journey and connect with Jewish teachings in ways that are relatab le and personally meaningful to them.\n\nONCE UPON A TALMUD: A JEWISH LORE REACTIONS WORKSHOP (6-7pm)\n\nMiriam will present one of her favorite sto ries from the Talmud\, a scandalous cautionary tale about identity theft\, palace intrigue\, and unexpected plot twists. Starring Ashmodai\, King of the Demons\, and King Solomon. Also guest starring… a very special magi c worm.
