DESCRIPTION:Hate crimes are on the rise in the United States. While violent
  crimes dominate the media\, public harassment and hate speech are widespr
 ead and rarely reported. People may be targeted for harassment or hate spe
 ech because of their skin color\, ethnicity\, religion\, sex\, gender-iden
 tity\, sexual orientation\, body shape\, or any number of other reasons. H
 ow should you react if you witness public harassment or hate speech?\n\nJo
 in us for this interactive workshop to learn five simple\, effective techn
 iques to safely intervene when you witness public harassment.\nWorkshop Le

 h\n\nCraig S. Ross is Executive Director of the idea hub at Boston Univers
 ity School of Public Health (BUSPH)\, faculty member in the BU Epidemiolog
 y Department\, and director of the BUSPH Bystander Intervention Training P
 rogram. The bystander intervention program has been integrated into the co
 re educational curriculum for all Masters in Public Health students. Dr. R
 oss has offered bystander intervention training to several thousand studen
