A Message from Rabbi Thomas

Welcome to Congregation Beth El — a vibrant community where  people of diverse backgrounds pursue their Jewish journeys. We  are an egalitarian, inclusive congregation committed to  experiencing the joy and beauty of Jewish life.

Beth El is about creating personal connections; sharing our joys and supporting one another in trying times. We welcome and embrace co-travelers from other faith traditions who choose to accompany us on our way. We are committed to sustaining and encouraging one another as we deepen our engagement with Judaism and Jewish life through learning, prayer, acts of social justice and building community.

At Beth El, education is a core value. From pre-school through elder years, you’ll find opportunities for Jewish learning and growth. Life-long learning and open inquiry are hallmarks of our community. We teach and learn from one another.

Worship at Beth El is participatory. It is filled with joy and song. In our sanctuary, tradition and modernity dance together. As a community we seek meaningful connections with God through prayer and music. Our prayer moves us toward holiness as we reflect on God and Torah.

Moving toward holiness inspires us to act to bring justice and righteousness into the world – in our homes, our congregation, and in the world around us. Whether through our free medical program, our tzedakah collective or our work in faith-based community organizing, we take seriously our commitment to repair the world.

From our house to your house, we invite you to experience Beth El as we celebrate the beauty of Judaism and Jewish life.

Beth El has provided me with an opportunity to be both a teacher and a student; a chance to teach our children and to learn from them.
