Beth El Reading Partners

The Congregation Beth El Reading Partners team has been a member of the Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy since 1997. Paired with the Charlotte Dunning Elementary School in Framingham, we’ve participated in the transition from kindergarten Reading Buddies to Reading Partners for first through fifth graders. Over the years, dozens of Beth El literacy tutors from all walks of life have invested a rewarding hour or more a week enriching the lives of more than 200 young students. Many of our volunteers have been with the program since its inception, drawing on their diverse background as speech pathologists, attorneys, social workers, English teachers and more to bring an innovative approach to tutoring. Whether stay-at-home moms, working professionals, or retirees, our team members have been recognized for their compassion and enthusiasm in working with reading-at-risk children.

“I’ve been pleased to learn that several of my students have moved up from sheltered programs to mainstream classes with a new confidence in themselves and their reading skills.” – Sandie B.

“I always leave the school with a smile on my face.” – Alissa W.

The love and enthusiasm for Judaism at Beth El is contagious. It stays with me along my Jewish journey whether I'm in shul or simply sitting at home.
