Youth & Family Education Committee

Beth El’s Youth and Family Education Committee (YFEC) is a group of involved congregants who meet monthly to discuss education program policy and strategic planning. Committee meetings are led by the VP of Youth and Family Education, and includes the Director of Youth and Family Education. The YFEC actively supports and guides “BE InSpirEd”, the new name for our education programs. Examples of efforts taken on in the past include:

  • Kick off events at the beginning of the school year
  • Community building programs for parents of Education Program attendees
  • Development of the Parent Handbook
  • Strategic planning for the Education Programs
  • Implementing policy changes
  • Reviewing and making recommendations on the school budget including program fees and expenses
  • Collecting feedback and facilitating end of year evaluations of Education Programs – both from students and parents
  • Organizing and sponsoring the annual teacher appreciation activities
  • Providing input and guidance to the Director of Youth and Family Education on events and curriculum.
Growing up with a Jewish identity, but no Jewish education, I never would have guessed that I would one day feel so at home at Beth El and call it 'my shul'.
