Beth El Connected
Beth El Connected is the group that grew out of Ayeka’s (“Where are you?”) listening campaign with members of Beth El. This group was made possible through a grant from Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Over several years of one-on-one conversations, congregants expressed yearning for greater connection and meaning at Beth El.
Now the primary goal of the group is to develop a campaign that will change the Beth El culture in a way that results in more people experiencing a strong connection to Beth El and finding meaning within the congregation. They would feel more comfortable within the community and, as a result, would be willings to ask for support for issues that arise in their life. This would enable us to create a broader structure to provide caring and support.
Currently we are working to strengthen our caring community, our Hevra Mishpacha, so that caring for each other is central to who we are as a Jewish congregation. Going forward we are continuing to listen to congregants in order to develop programs that will deal with life cycle events, death of a spouse or loved one, helping families with transitions and stresses and providing engaging opportunities to broaden intergenerational connections for all Beth El members. In this way we hope to create a strong vibrant community of caring souls.
