Our Community

Congregation Beth El is a diverse, open, liberal and committed spiritual community affiliated with the Reform movement, the Union for Reform Judaism. We are dedicated to:

  • Joyful prayer (Tefilah) that seeks to involve everyone, no matter what their background or experience. We created one of the first gender neutral prayerbooks anywhere to help us make prayer more meaningful to all.
  • Opportunities for study (Limud) and an outstanding education program for all ages. Starting in kindergarten, our Hebrew School’s goal of engaging students has meant that most of our students stay enrolled throughout high school, with many of our of teens active in a spirited youth group. Adult learning includes three different Torah study groups on Shabbat morning, as well as a variety of classes during the week.
  • A strong commitment to Social Justice (Tikkun Olam). We see ourselves as God’s partners in the work of repairing the world. Among other projects, we operate the only synagogue-based free medical program in the U.S., staffed by doctors and health professionals who volunteer every week to help people in need of health care.
  • A welcoming atmosphere, communal spirit (Kehillah), and fun. We welcome everyone to get involved in the life of our friendly community.

The best way to get a real sense of Beth El is to visit. Please join us for any service, program, class, or holiday observance to experience the joys of a lively and committed Jewish community. Our doors are open.

The opportunity for study, contemplation, and celebration at Beth El's bar mitzvah Torah class retreat enhanced the joy and meaning of the occasion and deepened our family's Jewish experience.
