Havurot– Friends
Beth El has a long history of forming havurot— groups of families who get together on a regular basis to do a variety of Jewish things, sharing communal experiences, holidays, lifecycle events and friendship.
Havurot provide congregants with the opportunity to get together outside of Beth El’s walls and to connect with each other outside of services or regular temple events and meetings.
Some of our havurot have been meeting for more than 20 years—others are being formed annually.
Regardless of their time span, each provides a support system and deep relationships among members. Havurot may focus on many areas: holiday celebration; families with kids; adults with an interest in crafts, theater, or music; nature; study; social action; food; book clubs and more. We typically offer congregants the opportunity to join or form a havurah once a year, although a havurah may be formed at any time.
